WIVELISCOMBE gained a 20-17 away win over Pirates Amateurs in Western Counties West with a solid first half performance giving them a 14 point lead at half time.
Ben Wragg kicked an early penalty for the home team. Flyhalf Dan Quick levelled the score with Wivey’s first points of the game.
Once Wiveliscombe had cleared the journey from their legs they began to gain the upper hand and it was influential scrum half Richard Baker who gave them the lead with the first try of the game. Dan Quick added the conversion points for a 10-3 lead.
The visitors increased their lead with a try from captain Will Ellis with Quick slotting his second conversion
The Penzance side were always going to have their period of dominance in the match and they began to create some decent chances from which they scored two tries from centres Harris Eddy and Joe Norways. Full back Ben Wragg converted both
Wiveliscombe deserved to take the honours in this game and a penalty from Dan Quick lifted the Somerset team to third place in the Western Counties West league.
