WELLINGTON A put up a spirited display before losing 3-1 away to Galmington in the Premier Division of the Taunton & District Taunton Saturday Football League.

Galmington, who finished runners-up last season and are one of the fancied sides again for the championship, did not make sure of victory until they scored a third goal in the 82nd minute.

"They were a very big, physical side and we did well to match them," said Wellington's joint manager Matt Groves. "I told the lads afterwards that if we play like this every week we'll have no worries."

Galmington grabbed the lead two minutes before half time and scored again not long into the second half.

Wellington played some really good football in the second half and Tom Scarlett put them back in the game by scoring to make it 2-1.

"At this stage I thought we were going to get a draw out of it," added Groves. "We were playing some pretty good football."

"But they caught us on the counter-attack to take all three points." Man of the Match for Wellington: Ben Fowler.

Wellington A play at home to Wyvern United on the Court Fields pitch on Saturday, September 21 (2p.m.).
