PROMOTED Wellington Reserves kick off the new season in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter Football League with an away match against Clyst Valley on Saturday, August 31.

Wellington finished third in Division One last season, behind champions University of Exeter 3rds and St Martins. Valley were fifth in the Premier Division.

Mark Owen is again continuing as player-manager, helped by his dad Mike and Tom Hawkings.

Wellington are also away the following Saturday, against Sidmouth Town Reserves, before playing their first home game - against Winkleigh on Saturday, September 14, when the cricket club will have vacated the Playing Field.

The league got under way last Saturday with five matches being played in the Premier Division.

Premier Division fixtures this weekend include: Friday, August 30: St Martins v Crediton United. Saturday, August 31: Clyst Valley v Wellington Reserves, Kentisheare v Upottery, Lyme Regis v Sidmouth Town Reserves, Winkleigh v Feniton.

Hemyock, who will be playing in Division Four this season following relegation, do not play until Saturday, September 14, when they play at home to Starcross.

Dunkeswell Rovers are also playing in Division Four and they have a home game against Morchard Bishop tomorrow.
