WELLINGTON Wildcats Ladies begin their second season in Division One of the Somerset County Women’s Football League this Sunday (Sept 1) with an away tie against newly promoted Bath City Ladies Development.
Head coach John Sellick will again manage the side and will be assisted by Geoff Hamlyn and Jordan Sellick (as last year) with the coaching team boosted by the additions of Jake Short and Les Coates.
Having been in pre-season training since July 4 they recently played friendlies against Wincanton Town and Street Ladies and were good form.
While using these games to bed in new players and new positions they still managed to win both games with an aggregate score of 19-2 with the goals coming from all positions of the team.
This season they will not only be looking to maintain their status in Division One, but to improve on their eight wins from 18 games last season.
Despite interest from higher level clubs for a number of their players they are delighted to have retained the playing squad from last season while also welcoming new additions from both external teams and also their Under 16 team from last season.
Another boost is the welcome return of Charlotte Ayers who missed last season entirely through injury.
