WELLINGTON A slipped back to seventh in the Premier Division of the West Country Drainage Services Taunton & District Saturday League after losing 4-3 away to mid-table Stogursey.
It was a game they could so easily have won, and joint manager Warren Toth said afterwards: "We had a good 25-minute spell in the first half and another such spell after the interval.
"I thought we were the better side - we were very unlucky to lose."
Wellington led 1-0 in the first half with a goal by Tom Scarlett but the Bridgwater outfit hit back to go 2-1 up at the interval.
Connor Porter scored to put Wellington back on level terms but Stogursey again got their noses in front only for Dylan Owens to cancel this out. Unfortunately, Wellington paid the penalty for not making the most of their scoring chances when Stogursey snapped up a fourth to clinch all three points.
Wellington play away to champions Redgate who have not made a good start to the defence of their title, having lost four of their five matches and are second from bottom, this coming weekend.
Despite losing against Stogursey, Wellington are only two points behind second-placed Staplegrove Reserves who lost 3-0 to leaders Galmington.
