COTTAGE Pies’ unbeaten record will be at stake when they play away to third-placed Shooters in Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Gerald Thorne Championship on Friday, November 8.

The Pies, however, were involved in the first draw of the winter last week, scoring 376 apiece against OBA with Paul Robinson hitting a crucial 57 for the winners. Denver Clark scored 53 for OBA.

Fireguard A kept in touch with Cottage Pies after they gained a 12-pin success against Shooters with Dan Taylor being their top skittler with 48, one more than former Wellington footballer Keith Harcombe. 

Reservists gained a 67-pin home victory over Report Centre A with Kevin Sedgbeer knocking 54 - the best score of the night. Dave Bennett hit 41 for the losers. Relyon just managed to squeeze home against Hot Shots at the Conservative Club, downstairs, winning by only two pins with Geoff Mold scoring a crucial 50. Add Chivers scored 46 for Hot Shots.

Holywell Lake found their best form, beating Rebels by 63 pins with Dave Howell scoring 64 while Jon Sellick knocked 52 for the Rebels.Tony Dunbar scored 53 for Bell Green who won by 19 pins against Queens Legs whose top scorer was Jack Mason with 57.

Meanwhile, Ex-Servicemen maintained their 100 per cent start to the winter in the Chris Bullock Championship following a 31-pin away win over WRFC. Dave Gardiner scored 59 for the division leaders while John Lane knocked 52 for the rugby boys.
