WELLINGTON ended their five-match build-up to the new season unbeaten following this goalless friendly in North Devon last Saturday.
Because of the holiday weekend, Wellington were down to the bare 12 for the game but manager Tim Legg was happy with the workout.
Wellington were missing injured skipper Glen Wright and were also without a recognised goalkeeper. New midfielder Miles Quick played in goal and made some smart saves in the opening 15 minutes.
“It was an even game but I thought we created the better chances,” said Legg afterwards. “We got what we wanted out of it.
“Ilfracombe were very keen and competitive and we wanted this in our last friendly before things become serious.”
Legg confirmed after the game that Josh Pearson, although still signed with the club, was likely to join Cullompton Rangers.
