WELLINGTON will be looking for back to back wins when they play at home to Saltash United in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League on Saturday, February 1.

Wellington’s 2-0 home win over Nailsea & Backwell enabled them to move up to 13th in a congested mid-table with only six points separating eight teams.

Wellington boss Richard Cherry has been busy in recent weeks on the playing front, making three new signings. Goalkeeper Jack McAndrews, who has played for a number of clubs in Devon, has come in to replace the injured Jake Viney and was outstanding last Saturday.

Midfielder James de Selincourt, who is at university in Bournemouth, came on as a substitute against both Barnstaple and Nailsea & Backwell - scoring Wellington's second goal last Saturday.

And in the same match former Tavistock and Yeovil Town defender Jacob Shore came on as a substitute.

Another bonus has been the return of experienced midfielder Glen Wright after several weeks out with an ankle injury, while midfielder Kieran Ireland has moved to Bridgwater United after failing to establish a regular place since rejoining the club from Clevedon Town.

Meanwhile, Wellington Reserves play away to tenth-placed Winkleigh in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter League on Saturday.

Wellington A, struggling near the bottom of the Premier Division in the Taunton Saturday League, play away to Bridgwater Wolves, who are lying third in the table, while Wellington Reds are away to lowly Exmoor Rangers in the first division.

Wellington side Moortown have a home game against first division leaders Mariners in the Somerset Sunday League (10.45).

Moortown were leading 4-0 after 30 minutes of their home game against Butlins Butlins last weekend when the game was abandoned. The league are thought to be 'investigating' the cause of the game being called off.
