WELLINGTON Wanderers are through to the next round of the Taunton Youth League’s Under 13 Cup after winning a fantastic penalty shootout against top side Galmington Dragons.

Wanderers held it to 0-0 in the first half which was a battle all over the pitch with neither side backing down.

The young Tangerines matched the Dragons but couldn’t quite find that final ball. Dragons took the lead but the Wanderers kept pushing and equalised with virtually the last kick of the game. Wesley Sellick broke up the play out on the left and set up an attack. Ed Trott found his way through and got the ball to Harley Worth on edge of the box. He cut in and went past two players before firing home to spark wild celebrations and take the game to penalties.

Archie Irwin took the first kick and fired it into a he top corner before Evan saved brilliantly to put Wanderers in front. Alfie Lamb and Archie Winter drilled home their penalties to leave Dragons needing to score but Evan Aspin produced a massive save to launch the celebrations.

There were so many standouts displays it was impossible to pick a man of the match - the whole squad were fantastic and have set a high standard for future matches.

Wanderers should be proud of what they have achieved, not only knocking out top of the division above but being the only team in all three divisions to remain unbeaten. Thank you to all the parents for creating such a good atmosphere.
