WELLINGTON'S captain Danny Lee could be sidelined for the rest of the rugby season with a damaged shoulder.

Head coach Graham Dawe revealed this week that the influentual back rower had been for a scan and that he will not play again 'for at least two months.'

Dawe said: "It could be that he won't play again this season. He's been missing since before Christmas and it's a big blow."

Wellington are also waiting on the results of a scan on the injured knee of vice-caption George Hodgson who has been out of the side for some time.

Meanwhile, Wellington will play what will arguably be their toughest game of the season when their play away to 100 per cent leaders Topsham in Regional Two South West on Saturday, February 1.

The Exeter side have won all 16 of their games this season and sit proudly on top of the table following their hard-earned 28-26 point away win over Wadebridge Camels which enabled them to go 18 points clear of second-placed Crediton.

Wellington have not played since they beat Teignmouth 45-22 at home a fortnight ago and Dawe added: "We certainly enjoyed ourselves in that game. But, of course, it will be a different game against Topsham. It will go down to desire. We need to play with plenty of spirit and we want to put on a good show. It would also be nice to have plenty of support.

"Hopefully, we will turn up and we can rock them a bit. A lot centres around their fly-half and they have a couple of really good back row players.''

Full back Alex Davey, who missed the game against Teignmouth, has made himself available for Wellington after recovering from an injury.

Wellington are lying ninth following the latest round of matches in Regional Two South West. In other matches, North Petherton moved above Wellington after drawing 33-33 away to Newton Abbot.

Petherton and Cullompton, however, go into this weekend's round of matches only one point clear of Wellington. Petherton entertain third-placed Tiverton while Cullompton are away to Winscombe who are sixth.

Wellington 2nd XV, who proved too good for Cheddar Valley, beating them 62-5 at home in their latest match, are home again in Counties Three Somerset South this coming weekend - against their North Petherton counterparts (2.30).

Ten points separate the teams with Petherton in fourth spot and Wellington seventh, with a record of seven wins and seven losses.

Castle Cary are tops with 13 wins from 14 matches, but second-placed Bridgwater & Albion are only one point behind, both sides having played the same number of games.

The Wiveliscombe club have a double header this weekend, February 1, with both the first and second teams playing at home.

The lst XV face Paignton who are only one point behind leaders Pirates Amateurs in Counties One Western West. Wiveliscombe slipped to sixth in the table after their narrow defeat at Bude last weekend where they fielded a below strength outfit.

Wiveliscombe 2nd XV, who were without a fixture last weekend, play Tor in Counties Four Somerset South.

Wiveliscombe are second in the table, 14 points behind leaders Martock who have played three more games. Martock are without a fixture which means Wiveliscombe can close the gap.
