AFTER reviewing the new tier system and advice from the FA, the Toolstation League board have decided to postpone all fixtures until Friday, December 18.
It means Wellington, who have not played in the Premier Division since they lost 2-0 away to Exmouth Town five weeks ago, will be without a match at least for another two weeks. And even then the shutdown could continue.
The club’s vice-chairman, Graham Aspin, said: “Personally, I’m happy with the decision because of the rate of infection in Bristol. Thirty-seven per cent of the teams in our division are in Tier 3.
“I think we would play matches if we had spectators, even though the clubhouse was closed. At least we have some form of income. But it costs money to put on games.”
Wellington are third from bottom in the division, having won only two of their 13 games. Their displays have been improving under player-manager Tim Legg but they are not scoring goals despite creating chances.
Plymouth Parkway, who began the season as red-hot favourites for the title, are ten points clear of Tavistock, in second place.
