WELLINGTON side Moortown gained a 4-1 home win over Dunster in Division One of the Somerset Sunday League.
Moortown started strongly but stout defending from the Dunster defence kept them at bay. Eventually the pressure told following a fine cross from Luke Perry produced a powerful header from James Conway to give Moortown a deserved lead.
This seemed to spark Dunster into life. A fine save from Ed Baker unfortunately fell at the Dunster striker’s feet who scored an easy equaliser.
After thirty minutes Moortown regained the lead with the move of the match. Ben Evett played a sublime pass out to Perry whose first time cross was met by James Conway who powered in his second goal.
The second half started just as competitively with both sides pushing forward. Then after fifteen minutes Evett went in for a challenge as he came away a Dunster player appeared to kick him in the back of the leg. The resulting confrontation between a large group of players ended with Evett and two Dunster players being shown red cards.
Five minutes later a superb cross from James Conway was brilliantly finished by Perry. Ten minutes later Sam Poole made it four-one. Man of the match: Darren Mace. Match ball sponsor: Conway Cladding.
