WIVELISCOMBE moved up to fourth in Western Counties West with a 13-10- away victory over Bideford.

Wiveliscombe were given a good test by Bideford who never looked like a team bottom and who led 3-0 at half time.

Wiveliscombe had chances to score on several occasions before the break and missed three kickable penalties.

Wivey started the second half well and constructed two well taken unconverted tries through winger Dan Rottenbury and full back Will Thorne.

The visitors had several chances to increase their lead through penalties, all of which went agonisingly close . Will Ruell and Will Thorne had good moments throughout the second half and Wivey’s scrum was solid often causing Bideford problems.

Flyhalf Charlie Sharland increased Wiveliscombe’s lead with a successful penalty to put the visitors 13-3 up.

Wiveliscombe looked solid enough in the second half apart from encroaching offside on numerous occasions and right on the final whistle the referee awarded the home team a penalty try for the visitors being consistently offside.

Wiveliscombe 2nd XV beat Yeovil 33-14 away to stay 100 per cent.

The West Somerset team are having their most successful season for sometime.
