WELLINGTON, who have not won a match in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League since early October, face a tough away game against Tavistock this coming Saturday.

The Cornish side are fifth in the table and have games in hand on two of the teams above them.

Wellington’s record since the controversial departure of Clive Jones in October is played 16, won 0, drawn 3, lost 13, position one from bottom.

However, Wellington’s current run of form is of no worry to the club’s vice-chairman Graham Aspin who said on Monday: “As far as I’m concerned Tim is there for the foreseeable future. There is no problem. Work is still in progress with building the side and we’re playing better football.”

At the moment there is no let-up for Wellington. The following week they face an equally difficult game when they play away to Exmouth Town who have the same number of points as Tavistock but have an inferior goal difference.

What has to be worrying for Wellington is the loss of so many local players since Jones left. More than 12 have moved on, including some who have joined Jones at his new club Cullompton Rangers, including the three Bryant brothers, Sam, Jack and Conor.

Meanwhile, Wellington Reserves are home to Winchester, who have lost only once this season, in the first division of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday while Hemyock entertain Axmouth United in the third division.

Hemyock are looking to replace manager Darren Salter at the end of the season. See page 28.

Wellington A, back on top of the second division in the Invest Southwest Taunton Saturday League, are home to former champions Porlock.

n Wellington Ladies play away to Ash Rangers in Division One of the Somerset FA Women’s League on Sunday. The game should have been played over the weekend but was called off because of the bad weather.
