WELLINGTON Reserves bounced back from their East Devon Cup defeat to record a fine 4-1 win at Feniton, who were sitting just above them in mid-table of the Stitch2Print Devon & Exeter League premier division.

Wellington started the stronger of the teams and squandered two early chances.

The first goal was not far away, however, as Ben Evett finished off a fine move by firing across the keeper into the bottom corner.

A second goal for Wellington was not far behind on 10 minutes.

Another fine move sent Alfie Barratt clear on the left and he fired low past the keeper.

Wellington now dominated all the play and Tom Davies was unlucky to see his header hit the post.

They were forced into an early change as keeper Rob Hall went down with a knee injury after 20 minutes.

With no recognised keeper to replace him, Connor Noble was forced to take over the gloves.

Five minutes later, Wellington scored a third when Ollie Southcott collected the ball after a scramble in the box and calmly fired past the keeper.

The second half started evenly as Feniton made a few changes but the Wellington back four were outstanding in protecting Noble in goal.

On the hour, Barratt scored his second and Wellington’s fourth.

Ollie Nott, who was outstanding in the centre of the park, won the ball and drove forward. He found Barratt who ran into the box and shot past the keeper.

As the game moved into the final 10 minutes, Wellington got reduced to ten men when Jack Bryant was surprisingly sin binned by the referee.

Feniton pulled a goal back in the final minute from a free kick which was not cleared and the striker hit a shot from the penalty spot high into the top right corner.
