WELLINGTON 3rd XI slipped back to fifth in Division Six West of the Somerset Cricket League after they lost by seven wickets to Taunton Indian at Sampford Arundel over the weekend.

Wellington's batters were not at their best and the home side was bowled out for 101 in 27.3 overs, never recovering from losing an early  wicket.

Opener Simon  Burrough was first out for 12 when the score was only 14 on the scoreboard. Only club chairman Mark Salter managed to top this score - with 16 before being caught and bowled by Shrine Thomas. Oly Dickens was 15 not out at the close of their innings.

Thomas went on to take 4-28 in 6.3 overs while Chandrasekharar Ravendran took 3-19 in six overs.

Three of Taunton Indians' batters went cheaply early on but Rejeer Rajan was 35 not out and Jithin Mathew 34 not out as the visitors strolled to a comfortable victory with plenty of overs to spare.

Tyler Fyfe ended with figures of 2-18 in eight overs while Lewis Sparks snapped up the only other wicket taken at a cost of 32 runs.

Wellington will be home - at Sampford Arundel - again on Saturday, July 6, when they play Shapwick and Polden (1.30).
