FOR their latest friendly, Rockwell Green made the short trip to Trull for a six-mat, eight-ends match.
It is thought that the two sides have only met three times. A warm welcome awaited the Green and after normal pleasantries were exchanged, the match got underway.
First up, Green trio Lauraine, Bill & John Y met Steve, Priscilla & Heather. After six ends, the Green were leading by 5-2 but a four by the home side & a single on the last end gave them a 7-5 victory.
Mat 2 saw Dave D, John St & Bob trailing by 5-2 to Lorraine, Even & Mike K but the Green found their mojo to take the last two ends with a three and a two, earning them an unlikely 7-5 win.
Last up before the break, Joy, Reg & Mike faced Greg, Enda & Carole. The visitors were in a devastating mood & only gave away two shots for a 9-2 drubbing of the home trio.
Trull laid on an exceptional tea which the Green players enjoyed immensely so many thanks were given to the Trull ladies.
The restart saw Lauraine, Bill & John Y playing Steve, Carole & Mike. In a tight game, the home trio were 4-3 ahead after five ends, then taking a four on end six to lead 8-3. This rather shook the Green who took a single on end seven & then came back strongly on the last end with a five to scrape home 9-8.
On Mat 5, Dave D, John St & Bob were back in action against Greg, Enda & Heather and with scores level after four ends, the Green trio entered the driving seat and took charge. Wins in three of the four remaining ends earned them an 8-3 victory away from home.
Finally, there was the last game of the evening that saw Joy, Reg & Mike cross paths with Laurain, Priscilla & Evan again and the visitors were in red-hot form once again. After being only 4-3 to the good after six ends, threes on ends seven and eight saw them come away with the biggest win of the evening.
While the Green came away with an overall win 48-27, it was an extremely tight affair, a very enjoyable evening was had by everyone and all are looking forward to the return game at Rockwell Green.
