HOME and away wins for Wellington Lions began with the men in the Over 60s league, who overcame Honiton A, whilst the ladies won one and lost one in their home and away encounter against Taunton Vivary.
June Anderson, Janet Moore, Angie Moore and skip Brenda Wilson won by four shots, 17-13, but Tracy Richbell, Monica Carter, Ann Cowling and skip Gill Groves were beaten by six, 20-14, making for a narrow 33-31 defeat.
For the men’s clash with Honiton, a back-and-forth encounter for Julian Street, Graham Brown and skip Paul Kelly was decided at the death, the vital shot securing a 17-16 win.
Mike Copping, Pete Nichols and skip Mike Groves also started well and took an early lead which they extended as the game went on.
Honiton did their best to catch up but it was too big a mountain to climb and the home side took a very comfortable victory by 31 shots to 8.
The overall score when it was all over was Wellington Lions 48-24 Honiton A.
Both the men and the ladies enjoyed a pleasant, sunny afternoon's bowling.
