IN THE Somerset County Ladies' Bowls League, Wellington’s Wendy Scott, Shirley Samuel and skip Ann Cowling pulled off a terrific win against North Petherton.

They picked up 28 shots in the course of the game while the Pethertonians could manage only 11.

It was a different story on the next rink as June Anderson, Tracey Richbell and skip Lynda Manning, of Wellington, were up against very strong opposition.

However, they started quite well and the teams were level on 8 shots all after ten ends with everything to play for.

However, North Petherton ladies moved ahead with some good bowling to win by 20 shots to Wellington's 11.

Lisa Dart, Angie Moore and skip Gill Groves enjoyed a close game, too, but appeared to be heading for a defeat as the match drew to a close. With just one end to play the Wellington trio were 19 – 22 down - and all looked lost.

Then Ann Cowling's ladies picked up an amazing six shots to overtake and win it in the last end, by 22 – 19, gaining an unlikely victory.

Wellington Ladies were very happy with an overall victory by 61 shots to 50.
