WELLINGTON artist, writer, and photographer Alexandra Lavizzari has been chosen to feature at an international art exhibition.

The event, organised by Wells Art Contemporary (WAC), will take place at Wells Cathedral from August 3 to 31, 2024. This year, nearly 2,500 entries from 27 countries were submitted.

After careful consideration, the judges selected 121 artworks. These pieces, which include paintings, drawings, prints, photos, mixed media, sculptures, and installations, will be displayed in the cathedral's cloisters.

This is Alexandra’s first time exhibiting with WAC, and she said: “When it comes to photography, I like to experiment with various degrees of abstraction, and the result very often just remains in my studio.”

“The taste for art is more conventional locally and there is – with exceptions - little appreciation for abstracts. I was hoping that WAC could give me the opportunity to showcase an abstract interpretation of a local landscape.”

Alexandra's photograph, Rain in Westhay Moor, was captured on a grey and rainy day. Alexandra, said: “Water in every form inspires me.”

Entry to WAC is included with admission to the cathedral. A virtual exhibition will also be available to view for those who are unable to visit in person.
