ORGANISERS of a charity dance at Wellington Football Club on Saturday, July 13, have thanked everyone who made it a resounding success.
‘Another Night of Elvis’ with Stuart Horne raised more than £1,200 for Stand Up to Cancer/Cancer Research UK.
It was the second dance staged by Ken and Jeanette Bird as a thank-you after Ken underwent two major operations for cancer.
Ken said: “It was another fantastic evening and we can’t thank everyone enough for their support.“Stuart again provided great entertainment with his Elvis tribute and it looks like it’s now going to be an annual event.
“We’re so grateful to him and everyone who helped on the night – the bar staff, food and set-up crew, raffle sellers and people who donated raffle prizes.”
Ken and Jeanette would also like to thank the local businesses who supported the event in a variety of ways.
- Oaktree Court Care Home.
- Carl Press,
- Tim Potter Family Butchers.
- Blackdown Garden Centre.
- No32 Beauty.
If you missed Stuart Horne last night he will be back in town next Sunday when he performs from 2.30pm at the next free concert staged by the Friends of Wellington Park.
