WELLINGTON Town Council is offering free fruit trees to Wellington residents to increase the tree cover in town and encourage healthier lifestyles.

Following the success of last year’s scheme, the free trees are being offered once again but this year the council will be screening applications for suitability.

Residents will have the opportunity to acquire a free fruit tree to brighten up their garden by applying via the council website by Friday, November 8.

To be considered, applicants must include a picture of where they would plant their tree so that the council can ensure the sapling's success

This year the council will be offering up to 100 trees evenly split between apple, pear, and plum saplings. The species you get will be on a first come, first served basis.

Visit the town council website to fill in an application.
