WELLINGTON Town Council will be honouring Remembrance with the town’s annual series of events and an accessible livestream this November.
Remembrance events are beginning on Sunday, November 3 with the Dedication of the Field of Remembrance at Wellington Baptist Church at 12pm.
The following Sunday, November 10, sees the annual parade through the town and Service of Remembrance at Wellington Park. The service begins at 3.15pm at the War Memorial and the parade departs Wellington School at 2.55pm.
The Wellington Branch of the Royal British Legion and Wellington Town Council are holding the Service of Remembrance which will be well attended by veterans, local groups and members of the public.
For those unable to make the event in-person, the Wellington Town Council will be livestreaming the event on their Facebook page from 3pm.
Armistice Day is Monday, November 11 where a two-minute silence will be held in the town centre at 11am.
On Sunday, November 10, there will be temporary road closures between Wellington School and Wellington Park while the parade marches at 2.55pm until 3.15pm and from approximately 4pm to 4.20pm.
Traffic will also be halted in the town centre on Monday, November 11 for a short time while the Civic Party marches from the Council Offices at 28 Fore Street to the town centre and observes the two-minute silence.
