WELLINGTON A were held to a 4-4 away draw by Wellington Road Dons in Division One of the Taunton Saturday League.
However, Wellington can still finish as champions if they win their last match of the season - against Middlezoy Rovers Athletic on Saturday, April 20, which is being played on the 3G pitch at the Castle Sports Centre at Taunton (2p.m.). A draw for Wellington would not be enough and would also cost them promotion.
Jordan Sellick snapped up a hat-trick for Wellington A, with the other coming from Alfie Hill .
Wellington A's joint manager Warren Toth said: "It was not one of our best performances of the season. We started the season playing very well but our performances have dipped - I don't know why.
"I think we should have won the league three or four weeks ago. We now find ourselves in a position where we have to win our last game to win the league."
Meanwhile Wellington Reds' hopes of winning the second division were dashed when they crashed 6-1 away to newcomers Dunwear United who clinched the title themselves, leaving Reds in second spot but promoted as runners-up. Reds are home to Bridgwater & Albion Reserves on the Playing Field on Saturday (2.30).
