WELLINGTON begin their build-up to the new rugby season with a friendly against Bridgwater & Albion at the Athletic Ground today (kick-off 2p.m.).

Wellington are expected to field a squad of 30 players for the first of two home warm-up games, the other being against Keynsham next Saturday.

Wellington lst XV, with head coach Graham Dawe in charge, will again be playing in the competitive Regional Two South West and open the season with an away fixture at Burnham on Sea.

Other matches next month for the first team are: Sept 9 home v Sidmouth, 16 away v Chard, 23 home v Teignmouth, 30 away v Crediton.

Next year marks the 150th anniversary of the club who will be arranging various events in celebration.

Wellington 2nd XV will be playing in Counties Three Somerset and begin the season with a home game against Burnham on Sea's second team.
