BILLED as the ‘Boxing Day Warm Up,’ Wellington U15 set a high bar for the club’s 1st and 2nd XVs to follow on the big day itself as they ran in eight tries for a convincing 48-17 home win over Wiveliscombe.
The game was tight initially with Wivvy scoring and converting first but Wellington hit back straightaway through Salvador converted by CJ.
Wivvy scored again to make it 7-12 before tries from Harry, converted again by CJ, and Jack sniping from the bottom of a ruck took the score to 19-12 at half time.
Playing uphill in the second half at Beech Grove, Wellington started playing impressively with strong running, great passing and offloads in tackles and Wivvy simply couldn’t respond. Two tries from Harry, to give him a hat trick, one converted by CJ and the other by Ruan, another from Jack again showing great awareness of gaps around the fringes, followed by a try for Theo took the score out to 41-12 before Wivvy scored to make it 41-17. Last word went to Wellington though as Salvador scored his second try converted by CJ.
