WELLINGTON A moved out of the relegation zone in the Taunton & District Saturday Football League with a splendid 8-2 win over North Petherton on the all-weather pitch at Court Field School.
It came only eight days after Wellington suffered a humiliating 7-0 away defeat against the same opposition - also in the league.
Wellington’s player manager Warren Toth described his side’s latest display as a ‘superb display.’ He said: “Every player worked hard for each other. We were on it right from the first minute.
“We were not at full strength - we still had players missing. We couldn’t have played any better.
”The problem the previous weekend was that the pitch was unplayable because of heavy rain. It was impossible to play any kind of football on it.”
Wellington led 4-0 at half time and then piled on the agony for Petherton in the second 45 minutes.
Dylan Owens and Jordan Sellick both found the back of the net twice, with other goals coming from Jayden Nicholson, Alfie Hill, Regan Scotcher and Ed Baker.
Wellington A face a tough game this coming weekend when they play away to Wembdon who are lying second in the table. But they go into the game with confidence after their victory over Petherton.
