WELLINGTON Rugby Club’s women’s team The Vixens have made huge strides since their formation back in May this year.
Vixens have a squad of thirty-six registered players which allows them to field a full squad for every game.
Vixens are not just a rugby team; they are a close-knit group from varying backgrounds who play and socialise together, making firm friendships and being part of the rugby family at Wellington RFC.
They have played a number of friendlies and league games and are currently fifth out of eight sides in National Conference 3 South West Central. Each game the improvements in play and becoming a cohesive team are self-evident. The Vixens last league outing at home against a very impressive Chard RFC ladies team saw them win a thrilling game 27 to 17.
Storm Bert halted Sunday’s away game at Sidmouth which has been put back to the New Year.
The Vixens train on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 8.30pm. I any women is interested in trying a new sport, make new friends and become a member of this dynamic group visit the club or look us up on Facebook.
Vixens’ next league outing is at home against Cheddar Valley Ladies on Sunday, December 8 (2.30pm.).
