ROB Williams has announced he is stepping down as skipper of Ashbrittle's successful cricket team.
Ashbrittle won the second and first division titles in the West Somerset League in successive seasons and also finished runners-up in the League KO Cup this summer.
During the past two seasons Ashbrittle have lost only two games. Despite handing over the captaincy, Williams will continue to play for the club.
Meanwhile, Sam Shaikh was the first team's top scorer, finishing with 937 runs in all competitions at an average of 93.70. The 1st XI top wicket taker was Callum White with 55 wickets in all competitions, narrowly missing out on top spot in the league by one wicket.
The 2nd XI also had a brilliant season, finally earning a well deserved promotion to Division 3 along with the title. The 2nd XI top run scorer was Rob Popplestone, who finished with 304 runs in all competitions, at an average of 50.67.
The 2nd XI top wicket taker was a joint effort between Boris Priscott and Leon Westcott who both ended with 15 wickets each - a fantastic effort from two of the club’s younger players.
