LUCY Payne, of Watchet, a mother of two young boys, has become the British middleweight boxing champion

She won the title by knocking out her opponent at Blake Hall, Bridgwater, inside three rounds.

She has won all her fights and is now the Southern Area, England and British champion. Her British title fight was remarkable because she had to adapt to a shoulder injury, fighting for a spell with only one arm. Her title fight at Bridgwater lasted only three rounds.

Her sponsors are: Kwik stop Ltd, Fitness station, John's Chippy, and Window Woman Locksmith.

She added: "I would also like to thank all the Tavern team for their support throughout, to each and everyone of my friends who brought tickets and supported me on the night; the atmosphere was electric!

"I would like to thank my coach, Simon Gorman, who adapted my training, who gave his time and expertise to help, guide and support me throughout and on the night too; you're a true legend and a great coach!

"We recover now, get the surgery needed and then we go big for the European title."
