WELLINGTON went down 3-0 away to Taunton Town in their opening game of the season in the Western Counties Floodlit Youth Football League.
However, Wellington gave a good acount of themselves before losing out to Taunton who are newcomers to the league. Wellington hit the post in the first half and went in at the break 1-0 down.
Wellington shuffled the midfield around and started to look much better, being on top for at least half an hour.
The Tangererines had plenty of scoring chances before being caught on the break as Taunton extended their lead and then scored again towards the end of the game.
Wellington manager Wayne Oaten said afterwards: "The lads played really well. The result was not a fair reflection of the play.
"It was very much a case in the second half of who scored next who would go on to win the game. Unfortunately, we got caught going for it.
"I think we showed enough in this match that we are going to have a good season. It was very encouraging.
"Taunton will definately be one of the stronger teams in the division.
"There are nine teams competing in the league and we can expect some good games during the winter."
