Despite the unpleasant conditions there was another good turn out at Taunton Racecourse on Monday afternoon, one of the features of which was a double for locally based David Noonan, writes Richard Walsh.
David got off to good start when he rode the Jane Williams trained Despereaux the 6-4 favourite to victory in the opener. His second winner came in the last on 11-1 shot Play By The Rules for trainer Nigel Hawke.
Local racegoers have got another great afternoon of action to look forward to Monday, 20th March, when Taunton host their RNLI Raceday when the first of the seven events the first of which is due to post at 1.40pm, has total prize pot of almost £72,000.
The most valuable race of the day is The Anthony Trollope-Bellew Memorial Steeple Chase (Class 3) over two miles and seven furlongs which has prize money of £16,500 up for grabs and is due off at 3.15pm.
This followed half an hour later by another Class 3 race The Jackson-Stops Country House Handicap Hurdle over two miles and half a furlong which has a very generous prize fund of £13,800 available.
At the end of the meeting there will be an exit collection in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution that will be carried out by volunteers from their very worthwhile cause.
Punters are reminded that to take advantage of the very generous discounts on offer they need to purchase their tickets on-line in advance before 12 noon on the day prior to the raceday by logging onto www.tauntonracecourse.co.uk
A courtesy coach service departs from outside Platform 5 of Taunton Railway Station 90 minutes before the start of the first race, returning from the course half an hour after the start of the last.
