THE United Winter Pool League in Wellington has come to a close with the finals and presentation night taking place at the Rockwell Green Institute.

Kicking off the night, the open singles final was betweem James Green of Two Tees and Liam Phillips of Pot Blacks and James emerged the winner to lift the winning trophy.

The Micro Check Shield final was played on the other table with Mark Kerslake of Changing Lanes being the winner against Ryan Redwood of Pot Blacks.

The Scotch Doubles final was played downstairs with Butch Cobbett and Ed Williams of Mutts Nutts winning against Neil Perks and Lee Richard’s of Here for the Beer.

The Team final took place upstairs with Steve Smith knocking in a hat trick to secure an SS Squad win over Two Tees, making it a great winter for the league champions.

The Chairman’s team final was played downstairs with Hear for the Beer beating Snipers.

Other trophies given out on the night were division winners SS Squad, runners up Pot Black. Ratings winner Matt Bell and runners up Simon Heritage. 5 x eight balls Gary Newall, 4 x eight ball Gary Deville, Andy Dart. 3 x eight ball Ed Williams. 2 x eight ball Matt Bell, Darren Copp, Aiden Hodge, Liam Phillips, Ken Rixon and Ryan Redwood.

Special thanks go to Helen for doing the splendid spread and to the Rockwell Green Institute and their staff for their extra work on the night.

The united division work well with some shock wins and losses and most players agreeing it was a success.

The Summer Pool League will revert to two divisions due to time constraints.

A captains’ meeting will be arranged where teams can sign up for the Summer League.
