WELLINGTON Town Under-12s’ football team is heading into winter with a fresh boost - thanks to a generous sponsorship from local business Mount Vets. The veterinary clinic has provided funding that allowed the young team to purchase new winter jackets, ensuring players can stay warm and focused throughout the colder season.
The sponsorship came at the perfect time for the team, who train and play weekly regardless of the weather. Winter conditions can make games and practices particularly challenging, and proper attire is essential to keeping young players comfortable and safe. With their new fleece lined jackets, the Wellington Town under-12s are ready to face the winter months with enthusiasm and unity.
Wellington manager James McAlpine said “"We are incredibly thankful to Mount Vets for their generosity and commitment to supporting local youth football. Having been part of this community since 1945, their contribution speaks volumes about their care not just for our pets, but for the people who live here too. These new winter coats will keep our players warm and comfortable as they continue to enjoy football through the winter. It’s fantastic to see such community spirit.”
The jackets, featuring both the team and sponsor logos, were handed out at the team’s weekend training session, sparking excitement among the players. For the under-12s, these jackets are more than just outerwear; they’re a symbol of pride and team spirit. Now each player can represent Wellington Town on and off the field with confidence, wrapped in the warmth provided by Mount Vets’ support.
Eric Chant, Director at Mount Vets, said: “"Mount Vets are delighted to support such a promising team as Wellington Town U-12s, and we wish them every success this season."
By backing the under-12 team, they’re not only providing practical support but also encouraging young people to stay active and dedicated to their sport, regardless of the season. The partnership has received praise from the parents and supporters recognising the positive impact on the young players’ morale.
As Wellington Town Under-12s continue their season, they can do so with the comfort of new winter jackets—a gesture of generosity from Mount Vets that highlights the strength and warmth of local community ties.
After a strong start to the season Wellington Town Under 12s find themselves in fourth place just one point off of second place. This Saturday sees Wellington welcome Galmington Dragons to Dobree Park for a 10:30 kick off where Wellington will be looking to get two wins in a row after recently defeating Kingsdown Knights 3-0 away from home. Goals from Cass Letten, Travis Wong and captain Charlie McAlpine were enough to secure the three points.
