THREE winners from nine runners in three days is what every racehorse trainer dreams of and for Blackdown based Stuart Kittow this came true last week.
It started on Wednesday, 26th June, when Sunny Corner won the 4.50pm, a one mile handicap at Salisbury at 10-11 under Rossa Ryan; then 90 minutes later Jimmy Mark won over one mile two furlongs at Ffos Las under Callum Hutchinson at 7-2.
Three days later Notre Maison, owned and bred by locally based Gill Shire won over five furlongs at Windsor ridden by Sean D Bowen going off at 3-1.
Gill said: “She won twice last year for us and earlier this year was fourth at Wolverhampton by a narrow margin so we were more than pleased when she came out and showed them all a clean pair of heels.
“She had a five pound claimer on her and he is an up and coming young jockey, but even so she is starting to show what she has shown at home. We’ve always been fond of her so it would be nice to think that she can compete even with the seven pound rise and give us some more fun.
”What does it mean to see a horse she has bred win? Gill added: "I don’t think you can honestly put it into words; it’s just so special and although I know we aren’t at group level or anything like that, even at the level we are competing it's a very special feeling and makes it a great day for everybody, both the owners, ourselves and everyone at Stuart Kittow’s yard.”
In addition to his three winners Stuart, who has 20 horses in training at his Haynefield Farm yard, Blackborough, has had two second places as well so all in all it has been a pretty successful time for him.
He said: “The horses are in good health and running well at the moment so we are very pleased and long may it last.”
“One of our horses picked something up when he raced last and that went through the whole yard so we have had to be a bit patient this year before we could get going, but now they are all through it and hopefully now we can keep on going.
"It was great to see Gill have another really good winner with one of the horses she has bred and hopefully another of her horses Gherkin will keep it going this week.
"The main thing is the horses are all going well and that the owners are enjoying going racing, which is what it's all about."
Stuart Kittow is always looking for potential owners so anyone who is interested should give him a ring on 07714 218921.
