WELLINGTON Utd U12s secured their first win of the season, 5-3 at Sydenham Rangers.
A bit of a slow start saw Wellington go down 1-0 in the first seven minutes but they turned up the pressure after conceding and hit back with a Blake Mead leveller on 24 minutes quickly followed by goals by Leo Upham and Harry Newstead.
It was pretty end to end at the start of the second half until a lovely chip over their keeper by Caleb Jackman-Hughes found the back of the net.
Wellington conceded a penalty shortly after 47 minutes which was scored by the ever pressing Sydenham Rangers who closed the gap further seven minutes later.
But Jack McDonald secured the win when he made it 5-3 on 55 minutes.
Manager Steve Newstead said: ”I’m so proud of the boys, we’re a brand new team this season and we are starting to click into place, things are on the up for sure.”
Coach Richard Upham added: “I’m so happy for the lads, we couldn’t have asked for more today.”
Wellington’s player of the match was Blake Mead and well done to man of the match Caleb Jackman-Hughes, (chosen by opposition coach).
