WELLINGTON completed their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 victory over the talented BTC Academy team at Fairfax Park in Bridgwater last night (Wednesday).

They were able to field most of their Jewson Western League squad against lively opposition and played some fast, one touch football.

New signing Sam Sheldrake netted after five minutes with a fine drive which took a deflection past the keeper before another new signing, Oscar Albano, added a second from distance with a fierce shot.

They conceded possession outside the box which led to the home team pulling a goal back before the break with a well-placed finish giving keeper Jake Viney no chance.

The second period saw several changes, including the introduction of another newcomer, Matt Crawley, with Albano adding a third goal when he cut in from the left to fire an unstoppable shot into the top right-hand corner.

Wellington manager Richard Cherry was well pleased with the workout in preparation for the opening league game at Ilfracombe this Saturday.
