PRE-SEASON friendlies got off to a winning start for Wellington AFC with a 1-0 victory over Tavistock of the Southern League at Taunton’s Castle School yesterday (Saturday).

The solitary goal came on the hour mark as the Tavistock keeper could only parry a low shot by Josh Lukins and Jake Quick, who has rejoined the club from Axminster Town, pounced to net the rebound.

Wellington were due to play away to Chard Town in another friendly on Wednesday but the game has been cancelled.
