NEW leaders Wellington are involved in a top of the table clash at home to St Austell in Western Counties West this Saturday (3.00).
Wellington won 29-19 away to bottom side Saltash on Saturday while St Austell surprisingly lost their unbeaten record - and their position at the top - when they slumped 40-24 at home to Wadebridge Camels.
With both sides having lost one of their opening seven games, Saturday’s match at the Athletic Groun will attract a big crowd.
Wellington coach Allyn Chetland said of Saturday’s win in Cornwall: “It was a scrappy first half but the second half was much better - there was better application and continuity. All away victories are good wins in this league.
“St Austell’s defeat by the Camels was a shock so they will be out to beat us and to go back on top of the table.
“They are always good up front. They have a good No 10 who likes to dictate the game.”
Prop Ryan Marke, who has been sidelined for some time with a shoulder injury, should be back in contention for Wellington, but full back Rob Hooper, who picked up a similar injury at Saltash, is doubtful.
Wellington and St Austell both have the same number of points but Wellington have a much superior points difference.
