WELLINGTON Town put in a determined performance despite falling to a 4-2 defeat away to Wembdon in Division Two of the Under 12 section in the Taunton Youth League.
Missing their regular goalkeeper and with no substitutes, Wellington showed great character throughout. Arthur House lit up the game with a stunning long-range strike from over 20 yards - a clear contender for goal of the season.
Charlie McAlpine added to the scoresheet with a superb turn and curling finish, bringing his goal tally for the season to an impressive 17.
Wellington were denied a clear penalty after Arthur House was pushed over in the box, while Wembdon were awarded a spot-kick following an accidental handball.
Despite the result, Wellington can hold their heads high, ending the season third - their highest-ever league finish.
Training continues at Court Fields 3G pitch on April 11th, 25th, and May 2nd, with open sessions for any new players looking to join.
