WELLINGTON played Taunton in the Somerset Ladies Bowls League, South. A lovely bright sunny day saw three games of triples played to 18 ends.
On the first rink, Suzanne Worth, Ann Cowling and skip Lynda Manning set off at a fair pace, leading early on, but the Taunton trio soon began to catch them. After 13 ends Wellington ladies led by just one shot 12-11.
Despite Taunton's ladies taking four shots in the last, Wellington were far enough ahead to win by 20 shots to 15.
On the next rink, Wendy Scott, who has only been bowling since last summer, played a brilliant game along with her teammates Shirley Samuel and skip Marguerite Nichols. They got down to some serious bowling and ended the game with a comfortable victory, 22 shots to 15.
On the last rink Janet Moore, Thelma Helps and skip Brenda Wilson started brightly enough. They were 3-0 up in the first few ends but a strong Taunton trio picked up a five in the fifth and they never looked back after that.
Brenda's team did their best but could not catch their opponents and went down 22-10.
Despite the loss on the last rink, Wellington won overall by 52 shots to 49.
