IT WAS a beautiful summer's day as Wellington Under 9s made the journey down to Torquay for the final tournament of the season. From the very first whistle, the lads were on fire, playing some fantastic football and cruising through the group stages with four wins and just one loss.

Unfortunately, their tournament journey came to an end in the quarter-finals as they were edged out by a strong West Exe side. But despite the disappointment of the defeat, the boys can hold their heads high – they gave it absolutely everything. They played some lovely football and tested the opposition goalkeeper, frustratingly hitting the woodwork on no fewer than four occasions.

Although Lady Luck wasn't on their side this time, the Wellington boys showed exactly why they're a joy to coach. Throughout the tournament, they demonstrated the perfect blend of positivity, resilience, determination and respect – values that are the cornerstone of this fantastic team.

The goal scorers on the day were Jack Jorge (4), Rex Beatty (2), Fraser May (2), Jude Norman, Louis Molloy and Harrison Thompson.

A big thank you to kit sponsors Roadchef for their continued support. The lads are already looking forward to an exciting and positive season in 2024/25. Onwards and upwards, boys!
