THERE was a good old battle in the Weekend Triples League at Wellington Bowling Club..

Last year a fresh team was put together called the New Rollers and at the weekend they were up against a brand new team called The Ninchers who only started playing together this season.

Rav White, Vera White and skip Martyn Beed's Ninchers got off to a very good start and by the seventh end they were leading by five shots 9 – 4.

It looked as though Ninchers had the winning of it but Chris Johns, Diana Dagg and skip Martin Speakman's New Rollers had a big surprise for them.

In the eighth end they swept the board with a huge five shots which brought them level on nine points each.

It was very close after that but eventually the Rollers emerged the victors by 13 shots to their opponents' 10.

New Rollers’ Chris Johns was very pleased because he tried out a new set of bowls which suited him better than his old ones and helped his team win the game.

All the bowlers congratulated one another on a close and exciting game with some excellent bowling.
