MIKE Groves is the new president of Wellington Bowling Club after being installed at the club’s annual meeting and presentation evening.

He has taken over from Ann Cowling who presented the winners and runners-up of all competitions held in the summer months.

The Open Championship was won by the experienced Nick Channon while the runner-up in the competition was Darren Sparks.

The winner of the Men’s Championship was Tony Gibson while Nick Channon was runner up, just missing out on a trophy double.

The winner of the Women’s Championship was Lisa Dart who beat Wendy Scott in the final.

The Men’s Handicap competition winner was Ian Stewart while Phil Ellis was runner up.
