COTTAGE Pies go into this Friday’s (Nov 15) match in Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Gerald Thorne Championship at home to third-placed Fireguard A with a seven-point lead at the top.
However Fireguard A and second-placed Reservists, who are home to Club Rockers, both have a game in hand.
The Pies maintained their unbeaten record last week when they beat Shooters by 31 pins in the biggest game of this division on the night.
Reservists won by 23 pins against Hot Shots on the downstairs alley at the Conservative Club with Richard Troake being their top scorer with 48 while Edd Chivers (47) led the way for the losers.
Fireguard A were without a game, while Relyon moved up to join the two others teams on 12 points after beating Club Rockers by 20 pins at the RWGI with Mike Hutchings being their top scorer with 49.
Oaks won a mid-table match against OBA by 27 pins with Steve Burge scoring a fine 56. Rob Billett knocked 50 for OBA.
Julian Jones scored 67, including a 21-pin flopper for Bell Green who were 40-pin winners against Report Centre A.
The previous evening, Ex-Servicemen opened up a three-point lead at the top of the Chris Bullock Championship after beating Scuppas by 42 pins.
With Mowers not having a game, United Services kept in touch with the leading teams in this division with a thrilling four-pin wn over struggling Home Guard IV. WRFC lost ground after new look All Stars beat them by ten pins with Jamie Milton knocking 60.
