THE quarter-finals of the Ladies’ Singles Competition were held at Wellington Bowling Club at the weekend. Jane Hayes had a tough job on her hands against club coach Janet Moore. She did well to win four ends but Janet took the rest to win 22 – 6.

In the second match Angie Moore came up against strong opposition from June Anderson. Angie took the lead early on but June pulled ahead to win comfortably 24 – 4.

Wendy Scott set off at a terrific pace against Diana Dagg and led 20-1 after nine ends. Diana started to catch up and the score moved to 20-11 after 14 ends but Wendy scored 2 in the last to win 22-11. Pat Bridger and Liz May were very evenly matched. Pat was leading to start with but Liz inched ahead and stayed in front to win 22 - 15.

In the semi-finals June Anderson will play Wendy Scott and Liz May will be against Janet Moore.
