NINETEEN members entered the Men's Indoor Singles Competition at Wellington Bowling Club back in September. It took a fair time for all the competitors to compete against one another but when all games had been played only two unbeaten bowlers remained to fight it out in the final.

Darren Sparks and Nick Channon, two very capable and experienced bowlers faced one another to see who would become the singles champion.

Phil Ellis was the Marker for the match and he did an excellent job to ensure everything ran smoothly and he provided factual information when requested by the players.

There was very little in it during the first half of the game. After ten ends Nick was just ahead by 10 shots to 9 and no one could do more than guess who would have the winning of it.

But in the next three ends Nick moved up a gear and collected an amazing nine shots which gave him a big lead. Darren did his best to catch up, but it was too little too late.

The final score was 21 - 11, so Nick Channon is this year's Men's Indoor Singles Champion.
