A MAN was injured when a motorcycle was in a collision with a car on a notorious stretch of the A38 just outside Wellington on Tuesday evening (April 8).

The crash happened near the top of White Ball Hill, above the Beambridge Inn, shortly after 5.30 pm.

One lane of the road was closed for about two hours while an ambulance was called and the damaged motorcycle was recovered.

The injured rider was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton, but there was no word on his condition.

The stretch of A38 saw a road safety scheme completed in December, 2023, with a reduced 50 mph speed limit imposed, after the deaths of nine people in the previous 20 years.
