PUPILS of Court Fields School, Wellington, have been asked to give up something for Lent as they prepare for Easter.

Richenda Battishill, world views and religious education lead, said Lent, which lasts until April 17, was ‘a time of deep spiritual reflection and growth’.

Mrs Battishill said: “There are many things in our modern fast-pace life that can tempt us even if we are not religious.

“Giving something up for a period of time can help us to contemplate our life and we can grow exponentially.

“Speaking to one of our Christian students, she felt excited about beginning Lent and is only eating bread and water during daylight hours.

“Our students learn about a range of faiths, as well as an understanding of wider world issues.”
