A SMALL car burst into flames and was destroyed by fire on the Blackdown Hills near Wellington over the Easter weekend.
Wellington firefighters were called to the incident just outside the town shortly before 3 pm on Saturday (April 19).
The fire crew found the vehicle well alight when they arrived in Blackdown Hill Road, which runs from Wrangway along the top of the hills to Culmhead.
They put it out using two sets of breathing apparatus and compressed air foam.
The car was completely destroyed by the blaze, the cause of which was considered to be ‘accidental ignition’.
